| Vale Geoffrey Taylor |
| |
Geoffrey Taylor began a life long
love affair with skating from the age of 4 when he started skating
with his father’s and older brother William’s support.
He competed at various competitions throughout his earlier life
and eventually attained his bronze, silver, and gold medals. He
partnered many skaters in ice shows. He went on to become a solicitor
and married Shirley Marshall, who was an Australian Ice Dance Champion.
He continued his love of skating by becoming an Australian figure
skating judge and later an international judge. Geoffrey and Shirley
had four children, with their daughter Cathy following their example
and who is currently President of Ice Skating Australia. Geoffrey
Taylor served on the council of Ice Skating Victoria (formerly VISA)
where he received a Life Membership for his contribution to Ice
Skating, and later as President of Ice Skating Australia (formerly
NISA).
The Victorian figure skating community sends its condolences to
our current President of Ice Skating Australia and a Councillor
of Ice Skating Victoria, Cathy Taylor, on the loss of her father. |

Trophy |
| |
The 2009 Masters Cup and Adult Interpretive
Trophy Competitions will be held at Melbourne’s Olympic
Ice Skating Centre over the Queen's Birthday weekend, Monday
June 8th 2009.
Every year this competition attracts skaters from all around Australia.
The event is designed for adult skaters 18 and above and caters
for all levels of skater, from beginner to advanced.
Technical levels, rather than specific test or competition levels,
are used in the Masters Cup to reflect the ability of the skaters.
Adult Interpretive divisions require no technical elements but are
