ISV Council for 2011/12

As a result of the reconvened ISV held on Sunday 13th November 2011, the following people were elected to ISV Council.

Ice Skating Victoria (under authorization from Ice Skating Australia Inc.) will be hosting the Southern Hemisphere's innaugural ANZAS International Adult Competition for Men, Ladies, Pairs, Ice Dance and Synchronized Skating.

Competition will be held from February 16 - 19, 2012 at the Medibank Icehouse Arena, Melbourne Docklands.

One of our skaters, Linda Lancaster, recently passed her Senior Dance test. This is a huge achievement for a lot of reasons:

• Linda started skating when she was 29 years old
• In 2003, Linda returned to the Olympic Ice Rink in Oakleigh, and was inspired by watching Nobby Doi and Duncan Smart dancing together. Though out of condition after an eight year hiatus, Linda knew she had to get back into the sport.
• Partnering Duncan in 2004, by that November Linda passed her first tests, Elementary 1 & 2.
• Working hard both on and off the ice to improve her physical fitness, by 2007 Linda took the Tango.
• For Linda, the Argentine Tango test was a huge physical and psychological barrier. In June 2010, Linda did two good twizzles but missed two steps and didn't pass.
• In November 2010 she tried again, this time succeeding with good twizzles and expression. Linda also passed the Viennese Waltz.
• In June this year, Linda passed the last two tests at Senior Level.

Linda has also written an article for Ozskater magazine that will feature in their upcoming issue.
